Hey AE! Thank you for coming to the first meeting of the 2010 year! We had a great guest speaker, Jim Danz, come in to give a presentation on HR. January will be an extremely hectic month jam-packed with events! For those of you who were not at the meeting today, read on: NOVA NOVA is a nonprofit organization that helps youth find jobs and help with career planning. AE will be hosting a workshop with NOVA, presenting to your fellow teens on career planning. The workshop will be about 45 minutes long, and in order to be a presenter, you must be available on January 11 from 3:45-4:45! HHS Career Faire The HHS Career Faire is approaching on Thursday, January 14. Therefore, there will not be an AE meeting next week. Two days prior to the Career Faire, AE members will have a chance to present a mini-workshop in the Career Center on Tuesday, January 12 during tutorial. In this workshop, the presenters will help the audience choose which guest speakers to listen to. *** For both NOVA and the Career Faire, we are having one large presentation session for both events at Evelyn's house on Sunday, January 10 from 11:00-5:00. If you are interested, please reply back to the email that we have sent out a few days ago. i2TV and Internships Unfortunately, January is a very busy month with so many activities to do that i2TV videos will be pushed to after culmination. For internships, be proactive! I cannot stress this enough. AE provided you with a list of internships available out there, but there are more! Apply to as many internships as you can. Internships offer a valuable experience and a great addition on your resume for the future. Culmination Culmination is basically one large event that each project hosts to close one year's worth of hard work. AE's culmination date is on February 13. That is a little over 5 weeks! With the Career Faire next week, that reduces the number to only four tutorial meetings. The next few meetings are vital, and we need as many members as we can. On that note, I just want to mention again how much Evelyn and I appreciate all the hard work that so many of you have put into the American Enterprise project. Keep it up! Jessica and Evelyn
