In case you weren't able to come to our fourth general meeting on Tuesday, here's a summary of what we discussed:
Our amazing committees have been announced! - Go Green Committee: Go Green Committee allows members to advocate for a more environmentally friendly community, and also experience event planning first hand. If you are interested in being a part of this committee, you must complete an application and sign up for an interview slot here. Please remember to bring 5 copies of your application to your interview time.
- Public Speaking Committee: This committee focuses on bringing afterschool speaking workshops to members to feel more comfortable and prepared when doing public speaking. If you want to sharpen your skills before your speaking tryout, learn more about the different types of presentations (case studies, impromptu etc) or frequently practice public speaking, this is a great committee for you! Our first meeting is Wed, October 26 from 3:10-4pm.
- Tech Committee: Tuesday, October 18th duing lunch in A207.
Competition request sheets were due at this meeting! If you have any questions, contact Divya (

Thank you to all of the members that went to the KQED event that took place on Sunday, September 18th! Homestead FBLA truly made headway in helping out our community by raising $66,418 in a 5 hour shift for KQED's radio station. In addition to taking pledges from listeners, members also signed cards for local businesses that donate to KQED and went on a mini business tour of the KQED headquarters after the volunteering event. We met Michelle Henagan, an on-air public broadcaster, and saw KQED's recording tape library, their servers, and learned about KQED history.
Overall, this was an amazingly fun and productive fundraising event. Again, thank you to all of the volunteers that contributed their time and service to help continue to provide the Bay Area audience with quality programming and the best public broadcasting has to offer. Keep your eyes open for more information coming soon if you are interested in participating in future KQED events! Regards, Matthew Chow Vice President of Public Relations
